Storm Rider

I thought I'd stay late at work and finish chapter 4 of the CCNA book I'm reading. When I walked out to my truck it was starting to rain. After a few blocks it was raining so hard that I really couldn't see out the window. I stopped at a grocery store for about 10 minutes and figured I'd try again. I made it another 4-5 blocks and all of the low spots in the road were flooded. Thankfully I was in my truck. If I had been in a car, I believe I would've gotten stuck. I stopped at a gas station under the canopy and waited out the rain. The police closed down the intersection right in front of the gas station as it was flooded. I got to watch cars try to brave the deep water. Only 1 car actually died. There was also a guy with a remote control boat, driving the boat around in the flooded street. That was strange, but interesting. Eventually the water was low enough for cars to pass and I was able to get on the freeway. I made it about a mile and a half up the freeway and the road was closed due to flooding under an overpass ahead. I tried a frontage road and that was flooded too. Fortunately, I was able to backtrack and get back on the freeway past the flooding. Another mile or two up, the road was closed again due to flooding under an overpass. Finally, after taking a series of side streets I made it back to the freeway and arrived home without any further excitement. My 30-minute commute ended up being about 2 hours. Praise God for my safe arrival home.
