A day in the life of a scribe???
I'm looking for books, articles, etc. related to the day to day life and practice of scribes. So far I've come across a few articles and some odds and ends in books on textual criticism. I'm curious if any of you have come across anything worthwhile in your work and research. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

How about this (expensive, since it is T&T Clark):
Of Scribes and Sages, Volume 1 & 2
Early Jewish Interpretation and Transmission of Scripture. LHBOTS. by Craig Evans.
"The Power and the Writing: The Early Scribes of Mesopotamia" by Visicato. CDL Press
I'm sure there are others, but those three jump to mind.
Of course, you can get them at Eisenbrauns :)

James,
Thanks for the information. Both of those sound like interesting titles. I must admit they're a bit out of my current book budget price range.

I find it useful to spend a lot of time reading manuscripts. It won't usually help you figure out details, but it sure makes you feel a lot closer to what they are doing. Occasionally you'll see a doodle or a note in the margins, but that's rare. But it is fun anyway. You can find a number of images on the csntm.org website.
