Unidentified

My wife recently got Unidentified off of Netflix. I hadn't heard about this film before, but I was presently surprised. This is another movie by Christian filmmaker Rich Christiano. The basic premise of the film is that two reporters are are assigned to investigate opposing sides of recent UFO sightings. Ultimately, the film offers the point of view that these UFO sightings are actually demonic activity, which seems to affect people that have a mind that is open to the paranormal & the occult. As the story unfolds around the two reporters investigating the sightings, one of the them struggles with his Christian identity and commitment. The other reporter is very skeptical and has an antagonistic attitude towards the Christian characters in the the film. Several of the scenes in the film encourage you to think along with the characters about the reality that each of us will die and that we need to choose whether or not we're going to follow Jesus. There is no middle ground. I thoroughly enjoyed this move. I appreciated that it is clean and decent entertainment with a message that encourages the viewer to consider one of life's most important questions. Be sure to check it out. The official web site for the movie can be found here: http://www.unidentifiedthemovie.com/.

Too busy to blog....

Greetings to all my friends out there in cyberspace. I'm really trying to post a few times per week, but things have been pretty busy around here. My family was out of town last week, so I spent a significant amount of time trying to catch up on my "honey do" list. I only got about a third of the projects done, but it was nice to get even a small amount of house projects out of the way. I'm starting to feel more settled in my new job as I near the end of my second month. This new environment I'm a part of has been a real blessing as it is much more positive and the stress level is much lower than it was at my old job. June has been a busy month with lawn work, gardening, etc. I'm enjoying the time outside and am really looking forward to eating food out of my garden. As always, I'm in the middle of several books. I'm almost done with Facing Your Final Job Review. I've recently started reading Why We're Not Emergent(By Two Guys Who should Be) & The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment. Reviews to follow shortly.....I hope you're all enjoying the summer. God bless!

What God has been teaching me: A Meme

Nick tagged me with Roger Mugs’ “what God has been teaching me” meme.

Here are the rules:

In an effort to keep it simple, short, and easy to follow, I’d like to challenge you to quote one verse (not one chapter). And then say what the Lord has been teaching you in one sentence (not one paragraph). Then tag 5 peeps (you know the drill).

Verse:

"The good hand of God was upon him, for Ezra set his heart to study the Torah of Yahweh, to practice it, and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel." (Ezra 7:9-10, ESV)

I’ve learned that:

This is what I consider to be my "life verse". I strive to study the Bible, so I can practice what is being revealed to me and in turn share it with others.

I tag:

Nobody. : ) I'm in a bit of a hurry, so I won't pass this one along. Nick, thanks for tagging me.
