Sho Baraka - Turn My Life Up

A while back Nick had some posts about Trip Lee's new album 20/20. I enjoy rap music, but didn't really give it a listen at the time. I was browsing around tonight and found my way to Reach Records. They have a very unique hip hop ministry focus. Unlike most of the "Christian" rap/hip hop of our day, the lyrics on these albums are deep and gospel focused. They have several other artists in addition to Trip. I really enjoyed the sample tracks from Sho Baraka. Be sure to give 'em a listen.

Suggested Listening: eLi

Most people familiar with popular Christian music of the late 90's will remember the title track from eLi's 1998 album titled Things I prayed For. That was the first song I heard from eLi. The lyrics resonated with my own life experiences and really touched me deep down in my soul. I've been a big fan of his music ever since. In a day when many of the lyrics in popular music, Christian or otherwise, are fairly meaningless, eLi's lyrics challenge the listener to move outside of his or her comfort zone and really consider how their faith does or does not impact their day to day life as a Christian.
